Under One Roof Fiber Arts is a community outreach program of Sub-Saharan African Youth & Family Services in Minnesota. We provide free fiber arts classes to African immigrant women in the Twin Cities. Classes are taught by community volunteers & materials are provide for free thanks to donations from the community and financial support from our donors.
Under One Roof Fiber Arts has been providing free sewing & fiber arts classes to African women in Minnesota for over fifteen years. Our classes have always been taught by local volunteers, and we’re proud to have created a space where women from the various African communities in Minnesota can come together with volunteers from the local sewing & crafting communities to learn and share skills, socialize, and build connection across communities.
We are a community outreach program of Sub-Saharan African Youth & Family Services in Minnesota, an organization that has been providing culturally- and linguistically-relevant health education and support to the Sub-Saharan African communities in Minnesota since 2001.
We have only been able to provide programming through the generous support of the local crafting community and through financial support from private donors and local foundations, including the Hugh J. Andersen Foundation and the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, thanks to funding from the state arts & cultural heritage fund.
